It is tempting to swiftly enter into wedlock, divert ourselves, move on, and out - and consider it the consummation of human experience and responsibility. We are unfinished dreams of our forebears, refantasized in our own progeny ad infinitum: we owe the former more than grandchildren, and the latter more than ourselves.
